IF THEY DON'T BUY YOU,
KERRY FEUERMAN - CREATIVE DIRECTOR
ANY GOOD PRESENTER KNOWS THE FIRST THING YOU SELL IS YOURSELF. SO HERE’S MY STORY: MY PROFESSIONAL LIFE BEGAN AS A HELICOPTER PILOT. THAT DIDN’T SEEM DANGEROUS ENOUGH SO I SWITCHED TO ADVERTISING.
My first job as a copywriter was rudely interrupted by the hire of a new creative director who wasted no time in telling me, "You're overpaid and undertalented." I asked for a month to get my act together (but I didn't volunteer a pay cut).
Thirty years later I’ve won over 200 industry awards for creative excellence. I’ve been Vice Chairman of The Martin Agency,
Creative Director of Fallon Minneapolis and Global Creative Director on Saab, Seiko and Infiniti. My work as a writer and CD has spawned reviews in Creativity magazine and articles in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. And it got me on TV. VH1 and ESPN’s Cold Pizza wanted to know how I sold the admittedly bizarre Quiznos campaign.
This is all to say I’ve been around the presenting block. Or more accurately, the presenting world. I’ve sold work in Beijing, Stockholm, London, Tokyo, Paris, New York, LA and places long forgotten. Hundreds of campaigns, thousands of ads.
What I’ve learned I now teach. Last Hurdle is all about helping agency people sell more work. Period. Full stop. End of story.
